What is a Gate Valve?

Gate Valve is also known as Isolation Valve, it opens when the valve is rotated anti clockwise and closes when the valve is rotated in clock wise direction. In Gate Valve fluid or Gas flows without any restriction when the valve is open completely. But it restricts any flow when it is closed. This type of valves required minimal space.

How does Gate Valve Operates?

The operation of the valve is done by means of a threaded stem. It is used when there is minimum pressure loss and a free bore is needed. When a gate valve is fully open there is very low pressure loss as there will be no obstruction in the flow of medium through the pipe line.

Suitable Application for use of Gate Valve:

Gate Valve should be used for flow of mediums like Potable water, wastewater and neutral liquids, where the temperature range should be between -20 and +70 °C, maximum, Flow Velocity should be 5 m/s and Differential Bar Pressure of 16.

In terms of GAS Application, the temperature range should be between -20 and +60 °C, maximum, Flow Velocity should be 20 m/s and Differential Bar Pressure of 16
